Tristan Smyth (they/them) is a queer, nonbinary person with a living experience of disabilities and over a decade of community engagement and operations experience as a senior executive in the not-for-profit sector. Currently, they are the Chief Impact & Strategy Officer with Warshield, an Indigenous consulting company counseling First Nations governments on socio-economic development opportunities, and advising organizations on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) strategies. They are also an instructor at Carleton University's School of Public Policy and Administration.
Outside of work, Tristan is a co-founder of Theys@Work, a leadership collective for gender non-conforming folks, and serves on the boards of Giyak Mishkawzid Shkagmikwe Corporation, Table of Impact Investment Practitioners, Living Wage Canada, Mount Royal University Alumni Association, and Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity. They hold a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Mount Royal University and a Master of Information from the University of Toronto.
Tristan was named one of Canada’s top 21 Young Impact Leaders in 2019 by Future of Good and is an internationally sought-after speaker on the topics of ESG and impact investing. They live on unceded Algonquin Territory in Gatineau, Quebec with their spouse, Priscilla, and dog, Grogu.
